Lice removal is a multi-step process. Bernadette’s Lice Removal Center takes the lead and then supports you in the later steps. Getting rid of the lice is the first part of the battle. But these critters can live up to four days off of a head. That is why it is so important to take care of your home. We have created a checklist for you to help make this process easier for your whole family.
When you leave Bernadette’s Lice Removal Center an associate will follow you to your car and spray your seats down, this will eliminate any live bugs on the seats. It will be important to keep up with spraying the seats throughout the week until your next appointment.
The home is such a big area to attack. The best place to start is the bedding and laundry. Strip all beds, even if the infected person has not had direct contact. The sheets and dirty laundry can be washed in out Laundry Additive to help kill any live bugs before using the dryer on high heat.
Couches, beds, chairs, pillows and clothes hampers can be sprayed down with Household Spray for extra prevention. The next area to target would be the carpet. The best way to do the carpet would be to spray our Household Spray on every inch of carpet. Let the spray sit for ten to fifteen minutes and then vacuum.
The hair accessories and brushes can be unlimited if you have little girls. Please do not feel like you need to throw away all of your bows and flowers. All accessories can be placed in the dishwasher on a short cycle. The dishwasher gets hot enough to kill any lice surviving on these items. If you have delicate hair accessories you can place them in a zip lock bag for four days; misting them with the Household Spray will speed the elimination of any lice.
Once you have completed the initial house cleaning, you do not need to repeat daily. Daily routine should include spraying book bags, coats, hats, scarves and lunch totes. This will ensure that classmates and bus partners do not re-infect your child. Your final task is the most important. Treating and combing through your child’s hair twice before your next appointment will help reinforce our team effort to eliminate the lice. We know how hard and time consuming this can become. If you have any questions or concerns please call us anytime. We are here to help.
